Memphis: Top 5+ places you must see

Memphis Tennessee is one of those towns you have to experience. You just don't visit Memphis, you have to get out there and immerse yourself in its culture and history. Here's my list of must see, be sure to check then each off your list!

There are numerous hotels in Memphis, but you are going to want to book a room at the iconic Peabody Hotel. Celebrating 150 years, by competing renovations to their 464 guest rooms and suites. This luxury hotel has been at the heart of downtown Memphis and the Heart of American music since it opened its doors. Do not miss the red carpet roll out everyday for the Peabody ducks! This hotel blends grandeur and charm with good old southern hospitality to ensure you have an unforgettable stay.

Graceland

Whether you love the King of Rock and Roll, or the history, music and vibe that Graceland offers, this is another place you have to visit. From the house, planes, cars, memorabilia and more, you won't want to miss this legendary location.

Beale Street

Birth place of the blues, home to some of this country's most influential musicians and sounds.

Go check out a club, grab a bite, do some shopping while bathing in the neon and grooving to the music pouring onto the streets. This place can be magical! You'll want to make multiple returns. (And if you are staying at The Peabody, that's not a problem 😃)

The National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorainne Motel

One of the greatest tragedies of the 1960’s occurred in Memphis when the Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was killed at his hotel. This hotel is now the national civil rights museum. A very informative, educational and somber place to visit, but it is another must see place.

Riverboats

The Mighty Mississippi is the life blood of Memphis. Why not take some time to enjoy and explore her. No better way than by riverboat. It’s such a unique experience.

BBQ and Fried Catfish

Now when you go to Memphis there’s a ton of great food! But if you want to taste what Memphis is made of, you have to try the BBQ. Distinct to the region, dry, wet, whatever, both ways are delicious.

You also have to try fried catfish. Life along the Mississippi River has made this classic dish a staple to the area.

For homeschool families, or those looking for a little extra fun and education, check out the pyramid, obelisk, and Ramses.

There is always going to be a hot new restaurant, club, or new activity, but these are the constants, the backbone of the city, the places you can experience with each generation.

My must do list!!

What’s on your #Memphis list??
